| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Juneteenth West Texas |

| 6 | 6 | | Organization, Incorporated, the cook-off raises funds for the |

| 7 | 7 | | organization's youth enrichment scholarship and literacy |

| 8 | 8 | | programs to be held throughout the year to benefit youth at risk; |

| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The staff and members of the board of directors of |

| 11 | 11 | | the Juneteenth West Texas Organization are all volunteers; this |

| 12 | 12 | | outstanding organization is demonstrating by example that |

| 13 | 13 | | nonprofit organizations and volunteers are crucial for all |

|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, One of the goals of the Juneteenth West Texas |

| 16 | 16 | | Organization is to raise funds to build a center that will offer |

| 17 | 17 | | literacy programs to youths and adults at no cost; and |

| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Texans are noted for their love of barbecue, and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | over the years, Texas barbecue cook-off cooks have provided |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | superior cuisine, satisfying the most discriminating of palates; |

| 21 | 21 | | the Big Country BBQ Cook-Off contributes to the continuation of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | this vital Texas tradition; now, therefore, be it |

| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |

| 24 | 24 | | Legislature, hereby declare the Big Country BBQ Cook-Off a Texas |

| 25 | 25 | | State Barbecue Championship competition and extend best wishes |

| 26 | 26 | | to all associated with the event; and, be it further |

| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
