5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
---|
6 | 6 | | citizens of Austin in mourning the loss of Wayne Kelley, who died |
---|
7 | 7 | | April 12, 2009, at the age of 55; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Wayne Kelley was born October 31, 1953; for more |
---|
9 | 9 | | than 20 years, he played an important role in the governance of |
---|
10 | 10 | | our state, working with members of the Texas Legislature, |
---|
11 | 11 | | legislative committees, and leadership in various state |
---|
12 | 12 | | agencies; and |
---|
13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Kelley began his career in state service in |
---|
14 | 14 | | 1976 as a budget analyst with the Office of the Comptroller of |
---|
15 | 15 | | Public Accounts; through the years, he worked diligently in both |
---|
16 | 16 | | the public and private sectors to help ensure that our state |
---|
17 | 17 | | implemented policies that worked to the benefit of all Texans; |
---|
18 | 18 | | and |
---|
19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Kelley served in a diverse array of positions |
---|
20 | 20 | | throughout his career; he provided direction and dedication at |
---|
21 | 21 | | the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission, the |
---|
22 | 22 | | governor's office, the Texas Department of Agriculture, the |
---|
23 | 23 | | Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority, and the |
---|
24 | 24 | | Legislative Budget Board; and |
---|
25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and compassion, he |
---|
26 | 26 | | gave unselfishly to others, and his wisdom, kindness, and valued |
---|
27 | 27 | | counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and |
---|
28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband and father, and his |
---|
29 | 29 | | family and many friends will continue to live with the cherished |
---|
30 | 30 | | memories of his life and his many accomplishments; now, |
---|
31 | 31 | | therefore, be it |
---|
32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
---|
33 | 33 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
---|
34 | 34 | | family of Wayne Kelley: his wife, Brenda Kelley; and his sons, |
---|
35 | 35 | | Marlon and Marvin Kelley; and, be it further |
---|
36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
---|
37 | 37 | | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
---|
38 | 38 | | Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
