55 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
66 citizens of Austin in mourning the loss of Wayne Kelley, who died
77 April 12, 2009, at the age of 55; and
88 WHEREAS, Wayne Kelley was born October 31, 1953; for more
99 than 20 years, he played an important role in the governance of
1010 our state, working with members of the Texas Legislature,
1111 legislative committees, and leadership in various state
1212 agencies; and
1313 WHEREAS, Mr. Kelley began his career in state service in
1414 1976 as a budget analyst with the Office of the Comptroller of
1515 Public Accounts; through the years, he worked diligently in both
1616 the public and private sectors to help ensure that our state
1717 implemented policies that worked to the benefit of all Texans;
1818 and
1919 WHEREAS, Mr. Kelley served in a diverse array of positions
2020 throughout his career; he provided direction and dedication at
2121 the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission, the
2222 governor's office, the Texas Department of Agriculture, the
2323 Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority, and the
2424 Legislative Budget Board; and
2525 WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and compassion, he
2626 gave unselfishly to others, and his wisdom, kindness, and valued
2727 counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and
2828 WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband and father, and his
2929 family and many friends will continue to live with the cherished
3030 memories of his life and his many accomplishments; now,
3131 therefore, be it
3232 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
3333 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
3434 family of Wayne Kelley: his wife, Brenda Kelley; and his sons,
3535 Marlon and Marvin Kelley; and, be it further
3636 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3737 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
3838 Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
3939 memory of Wayne Kelley.
