SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 666
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the Federation of Bangladeshi Associations in North
America on the occasion of FOBANA 2009; and
WHEREAS, This year's annual convention, FOBANA 2009, is
being hosted by the Bangladesh Association, Houston, and takes
place the weekend of July 4; and
WHEREAS, The Federation of Bangladeshi Associations in
North America serves as an umbrella organization for Bangladeshi
associations and is a means through which Bangladeshi Americans
can gather together and pay homage to their history and vibrant
culture; and
WHEREAS, Since its inception in 1987, the Federation of
Bangladeshi Associations in North America has worked hard to
nourish and preserve the homeland culture of the Bangladeshi
people in this country and to help them pass their traditions and
values down to the next generation; it is a nonprofit,
nonpolitical organization that serves as a unifying force for the
Bangladeshi communities throughout the nation; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
Legislature, hereby commend the Federation of Bangladeshi
Associations in North America on its mission and on its many
contributions to Bangladeshi American communities and extend
best wishes to all for a rewarding FOBANA 2009; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
honor of this event.
