| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Federation of Bangladeshi Associations in North |

| 4 | 4 | | America on the occasion of FOBANA 2009; and |

| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, This year's annual convention, FOBANA 2009, is |

| 6 | 6 | | being hosted by the Bangladesh Association, Houston, and takes |

| 7 | 7 | | place the weekend of July 4; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The Federation of Bangladeshi Associations in |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | North America serves as an umbrella organization for Bangladeshi |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | associations and is a means through which Bangladeshi Americans |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | can gather together and pay homage to their history and vibrant |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | culture; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Since its inception in 1987, the Federation of |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Bangladeshi Associations in North America has worked hard to |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | nourish and preserve the homeland culture of the Bangladeshi |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | people in this country and to help them pass their traditions and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | values down to the next generation; it is a nonprofit, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | nonpolitical organization that serves as a unifying force for the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Bangladeshi communities throughout the nation; now, therefore, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | be it |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Legislature, hereby commend the Federation of Bangladeshi |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Associations in North America on its mission and on its many |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | contributions to Bangladeshi American communities and extend |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | best wishes to all for a rewarding FOBANA 2009; and, be it further |

| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
