| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Calhoun County Airport, which has been selected to |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | receive the 2009 Most Improved Airport of the Year Award; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The airport has been selected by the Aviation |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Division of the Texas Department of Transportation and will |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | receive the award at a banquet on May 12; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Located in Port Lavaca, the Calhoun County |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Airport is now earning rave reviews from airport users after |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | years of being considered a "non-destination"; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Not only did the airport invest in building new |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | large hangars and T-hangars, it also entered into a lease with a |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | new fixed-base operator that is providing services and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | management of the facilities; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, The airport has removed the former underground |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | fuel tank and dispenser and installed a new aboveground fuel |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | system that has satisfied all state and federal regulations; the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | airport is now in the design phase of a project to overlay the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | runway and taxiway pavement; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, With these improvements to its facilities and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | services, the Calhoun County Airport is poised to become a |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | destination of choice for area residents and recreational |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | aviators alike; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby commend all who participated in the |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | improvements to the Calhoun County Airport and extend |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | congratulations to them on the airport's selection as the 2009 |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Most Improved Airport of the Year; and, be it further |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | the Calhoun County Airport. |
