| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Greater Houston Chapter of the National |

| 4 | 4 | | Association of Minority Contractors, Incorporated, on the |

| 5 | 5 | | occasion of its third annual Black and White Scholarship Gala, |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | which is being held at the Petroleum Club of Houston on April 24, |

| 7 | 7 | | 2009; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The National Association of Minority Contractors |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | is dedicated to upholding traditions of high-quality, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | professional educational services for the construction |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | community; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Since the next generation of contractors will |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | come from the young people of today, members of the National |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Association of Minority Contractors believe it is their |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | responsibility to invest, encourage, and train youths to become |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | influential, successful contractors who can thrive in a |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | competitive market; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, The third annual Black and White Gala will provide |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | the means for the Greater Houston chapter to award scholarships |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | to deserving minority high school, junior college, and college |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | students who major in construction, architecture, or |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | engineering; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, The Greater Houston Chapter of the National |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Association of Minority Contractors is providing a valuable |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | resource for minority contractors in the Houston area, and its |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | goal of helping young people prepare for a future in the |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | construction industry is indeed worthy of recognition; now, |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | therefore, be it |

| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Greater Houston |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Chapter of the National Association of Minority Contractors, |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Incorporated, for their worthy efforts and extend to all best |

| 33 | 33 | | wishes for a successful Black and White Scholarship Gala; and, be |
