| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to pay |

| 3 | 3 | | tribute to Herbert Pohler on the grand occasion of his 100th |

| 4 | 4 | | birthday; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Herbert Pohler was born on May 3, 1909, in Shiner, |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Texas; he grew up in Shiner and moved to Houston in September of |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | 1928 to study and later work in the accounting field; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, For more than 80 years, he has lived in Houston, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | where he and his late wife, Betty, raised four children, two |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | girls and two boys; his living relatives include a son, a |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | daughter, 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and numerous |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | nieces and nephews; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Pohler enjoys watching sports on television, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | keeping his yard trimmed, and playing dominoes with his friends |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | at the local senior center; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Herbert Pohler is a distinguished and personable |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | gentleman, and he is admired and respected by all who know him; on |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | May 1, 2009, he will be joined by many of his family and friends |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | at the South Houston Senior Center to celebrate the momentous |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | occasion of his 100th birthday; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Legislature, hereby recognize Herbert Pohler as a treasured |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | citizen of this state and extend to him best wishes for a |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | wonderful birthday celebration; and, be it further |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

| 26 | 26 | | Herbert Pohler as a token of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
