| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the late J. Marvin Hunter, who is being inducted into |

| 4 | 4 | | the Frontier Times Museum Hall of Honor in Bandera on July 25, |

| 5 | 5 | | 2009; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Hunter established the Frontier Times Museum |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | to showcase the exploits of the pioneers whose courage and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | strength of character played a major role in the opening of the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | West and the creation of the icon known as the true Texan; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, In addition to creating the Frontier Times |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Museum, Mr. Hunter was a writer whose works continue to inspire |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | those who treasure our state's history; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Hunter helped promote an interest in frontier |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | history and the achievements of our forefathers, and his effort |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | to preserve the firsthand accounts of their lives has enriched |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | our understanding of the struggles they faced; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, J. Marvin Hunter embodied the principles and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | courage exhibited by the early pioneers memorialized in his |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Frontier Times Museum, and it is truly fitting that he be given |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | this singular honor on July 25, 2009, the National Day of the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | American Cowboy; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life and work of J. Marvin |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Hunter; and, be it further |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
