| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Dr. Raul Gaona, Sr., of San Antonio, who is being |

| 4 | 4 | | inducted into the Frontier Times Museum Hall of Honor in Bandera |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | on July 25, 2009; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Frontier Times Museum was established in 1933 |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | by J. Marvin Hunter to showcase the exploits of the pioneers |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | whose courage and strength of character played a major role in |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | the opening of the West and the creation of the icon known as the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | true Texan; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Gaona is one of the foremost promoters of |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | traditional Mexican culture in our state; he has initiated a |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | valuable cultural exchange between our state and the nation of |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Mexico; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Active in community affairs, Dr. Gaona is one of |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | the principal founders of the San Antonio Charro Association, the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | oldest Charro association in the nation; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Raul Gaona embodies the principles and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | courage exhibited by the early pioneers memorialized in the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Frontier Times Museum, and it is truly fitting that he receive |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | this singular honor on July 25, 2009, the National Day of the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | American Cowboy; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Raul Gaona, Sr., for his many |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | contributions to the rich legacy of our state and extend to him |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | best wishes for continued success in all his future endeavors; |
