2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

3 | 3 | | recognize the Texas State Partnership Program for its |

4 | 4 | | outstanding efforts at advancing cooperation between foreign |
---|
5 | 5 | | nations and American states and to welcome the delegations from |
---|
6 | 6 | | the Republic of Chile and the United States to the State Capitol; |
---|
7 | 7 | | and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The State Partnership Program seeks to link the |
---|
9 | 9 | | National Guards of the various states with partner countries for |
---|
10 | 10 | | the purpose of furthering mutual interests and establishing |
---|
11 | 11 | | long-term relationships throughout all levels of society; and |
---|
12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Partners in the program benefit from training |
---|
13 | 13 | | opportunities through small-unit exchanges, fellowship-style |
---|
14 | 14 | | internships, civic leader visits, and other events; and |
---|
15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, The Texas State Partnership Program is a |
---|
16 | 16 | | well-established and vigorous program; one of the charter states |
---|
17 | 17 | | of this important program, Texas has maintained an outstanding |
---|
18 | 18 | | 16-year relationship with the Czech Republic and played an |
---|
19 | 19 | | important role in its acceptance into the European Union and the |
---|
20 | 20 | | North Atlantic Treaty Organization; and |
---|
21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Texas has much to offer the nation of Chile as a |
---|
22 | 22 | | partner, including some 23,000 military personnel with valuable |
---|
23 | 23 | | civilian skills in many areas, such as agriculture, technology, |
---|
24 | 24 | | education, and manufacturing; with its extraordinary resources |
---|
25 | 25 | | and exceptional populace, Chile would bring abundant assets to a |
---|
26 | 26 | | partnership with Texas; and |
---|
27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, The Chilean delegation being welcomed to the |
---|
28 | 28 | | Capitol today includes Ambassador Jos Mario Goi Carrasco, |
---|
29 | 29 | | Minister Counselor Matas Undurraga Abott, Undersecretary of War |
---|
30 | 30 | | Gonzalo Garcia Pino, General de Aviacon Javier Anabaln Quiroz, |

31 | 31 | | and Contraalmirante Roberto Macchiavello Marcel; and |

32 | 32 | | WHEREAS, The United States delegation includes Major |

33 | 33 | | General Jose Mayorga, Adjutant General of Texas; General Craig |

34 | 34 | | McKinley, Chief of the National Guard Bureau; Ambassador Paul |

35 | 35 | | Simons, United States Ambassador to Chile; Brigadier General |

37 | 37 | | Command; and Brigadier General Darryl Burke, Vice Commander of |

39 | 39 | | WHEREAS, The Texas State Partnership Program is truly |

40 | 40 | | deserving of recognition for its work with the Czech Republic and |

41 | 41 | | its efforts to establish an effective relationship with the |

42 | 42 | | nation of Chile; now, therefore, be it |

43 | 43 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |

44 | 44 | | Legislature, hereby commend the Texas State Partnership Program |

45 | 45 | | for its outstanding work in the effort to foster understanding |
---|
46 | 46 | | between nations and American states and extend a sincere welcome |
---|
47 | 47 | | to the delegations from Chile and the United States; and, be it |
