| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize The University of Texas at San Antonio on the occasion |

| 4 | 4 | | of the institution's 40th anniversary; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The University of Texas at San Antonio was created |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | by the Texas Legislature in 1969, and by 1973, more than 670 |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | students had enrolled in its graduate level courses; today, the |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | university can claim an enrollment of more than 28,000 students |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | and a total of 72,000 alumni; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The university is now one of the fastest-growing |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | public universities in Texas and a proud component of The |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | University of Texas System; the school generates an annual |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | economic impact of $1.2 billion; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, The Texas Legislature, The University of Texas |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | System Board of Regents, The University of Texas at San Antonio |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Development Board, the university's alumni, the City of San |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Antonio, Bexar County officials, and many public and private |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | sector partners have helped The University of Texas at San |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Antonio to build on a tradition of access and opportunity; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, The university has emerged as a national research |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | university that provides world-class research and educational |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students and that |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | prepares students for the global environment; now, therefore, be |
|---|

| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |

| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby commend The University of Texas at San |

| 27 | 27 | | Antonio on its long-standing commitment to serving students and |

| 28 | 28 | | extend best wishes to all associated with the university for an |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | outstanding and memorable 40th anniversary celebration; and, be |
