5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The untimely death of attorney William Dean |
---|
6 | 6 | | Peisen on April 9, 2009, at the age of 51, has deeply saddened the |
---|
7 | 7 | | Rio Grande Valley community and brought a great loss to his |
---|
8 | 8 | | family and friends; and |
---|
9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The son of Jo Anne and George Peisen, Bill Peisen |
---|
10 | 10 | | was born on October 10, 1957, in Eldora, Iowa; he graduated from |
---|
11 | 11 | | Iowa State University with a bachelor's degree in economics and |
---|
12 | 12 | | went on to law school there, serving on the board of editors of |
---|
13 | 13 | | the Iowa Law Review and graduating with distinction; and |
---|
14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Peisen was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1983 |
---|
15 | 15 | | and to the bar of the United States District Court for the |
---|
16 | 16 | | Southern District of Texas the following year; board certified in |
---|
17 | 17 | | civil trial law, he focused his successful solo practice on civil |
---|
18 | 18 | | trial and appellate law with an emphasis on commercial |
---|
19 | 19 | | litigation, and he was greatly respected for his knowledge, his |
---|
20 | 20 | | professionalism, and his confident and courteous manner in the |
---|
21 | 21 | | courtroom; and |
---|
22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, A dedicated civic leader, he served on the board |
---|
23 | 23 | | of the McAllen Independent School District from 1996 to 2002, |
---|
24 | 24 | | including one year as president; moreover, he gave generously of |
---|
25 | 25 | | his time and talent for many years to the McAllen Youth Soccer |
---|
26 | 26 | | League and to various school activities; he served on the board |
---|
27 | 27 | | of the McAllen Airport and provided his legal counsel to Saint |
---|
28 | 28 | | John's Episcopal School on a pro bono basis; and |
---|
29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Known as a true gentleman, Bill Peisen won many |
---|
30 | 30 | | friends with his warmth, kindness, and delightful sense of humor, |
---|
31 | 31 | | and memories of him will be forever cherished by those who were |
---|
32 | 32 | | privileged to share in his love and affection; now, therefore, be |
---|
33 | 33 | | it |
---|
34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
---|
35 | 35 | | Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Bill Peisen and |
---|
36 | 36 | | extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his |
---|
37 | 37 | | wife, Val Peisen; to his children, Marty, Grant, Lisa Marie, |
---|
38 | 38 | | Alex, and Jessica; to his father, George Peisen; to his brother, |

39 | 39 | | John Peisen, and his wife, Mary; to his father-in-law, Joe |

40 | 40 | | LaMantia, Jr., and his wife, Derrelene; to his brothers-in-law |
