| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Barbara Jean Jones-Vickers, who is retiring on June 4, |

| 4 | 4 | | 2009, after 20 years of outstanding service to the Dallas |

| 5 | 5 | | Independent School District; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A 1961 graduate of James Madison High School, Mrs. |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Vickers earned a degree from Bishop College and joined the Dallas |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Independent School District in 1989 after working in the private |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | sector for many years; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Vickers served as the lead instructor in the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Career Connection Department at the H. W. Longfellow Career |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Exploration Academy; an inspiring and gifted teacher, she |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | captured the imagination and attention of her students; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, A positive influence in the lives of her students, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Mrs. Vickers gave generously of her time and energy to help them |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | with their work, and she instilled in them a sense of pride and a |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | lifelong love of learning; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, An exemplary educator who was named Teacher of the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Year on more than one occasion, Mrs. Vickers is respected and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | admired by her colleagues and students alike, and her presence at |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | the H. W. Longfellow Career Exploration Academy will be greatly |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | missed; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Legislature, hereby commend Barbara Jean Jones-Vickers for her |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | exemplary contributions to the Dallas Independent School |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | District and extend to her best wishes for the retirement years |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | ahead; and, be it further |

| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
