 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to requiring the use of display timers with certain
 traffic-control signals.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1.  Section 707.003, Transportation Code, is amended
 by adding Subsection (i) to read as follows:
 (i)  A local authority shall install a timer at each
 intersection at which a photographic traffic signal enforcement
 system is in active use that displays the number of seconds that
 remain before the traffic-control signal changes.  The timer must
 be easily readable to any operator approaching the intersection
 with illuminated numbers not less than 12 inches high.
 SECTION 2.  A municipality or a local authority, as defined
 by Section 541.002, Transportation Code, shall ensure that a
 photographic traffic signal enforcement system that was installed
 by the municipality or local authority before the effective date of
 this Act complies with this Act not later than September 1, 2012.
 SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
