12 | 12 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

13 | 13 | | SECTION 1. Section 614.124(a), Government Code, as added by |
---|
14 | 14 | | Chapter 938 (H.B. 3613), Acts of the 80th Legislature, Regular |
---|
15 | 15 | | Session, 2007, is amended to read as follows: |
---|
16 | 16 | | (a) On request of an honorably retired peace officer who |
---|
17 | 17 | | holds a certificate of proficiency under Section 1701.357, |
---|
18 | 18 | | Occupations Code, the [The] law enforcement agency or other |
---|
19 | 19 | | governmental entity that was the last entity to appoint or employ |
---|
20 | 20 | | the [an] honorably retired peace officer as a peace officer shall |
---|
21 | 21 | | [may] issue an identification card to the [its] honorably retired |
---|
22 | 22 | | peace officer [officers]. |
---|
23 | 23 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
---|
24 | 24 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
---|
25 | 25 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
---|
26 | 26 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
---|
27 | 27 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
