99 AN ACT
1010 relating to the issuance of an identification card to certain
1111 honorably retired peace officers.
1212 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1313 SECTION 1. Section 614.124(a), Government Code, as added by
1414 Chapter 938 (H.B. 3613), Acts of the 80th Legislature, Regular
1515 Session, 2007, is amended to read as follows:
1616 (a) On request of an honorably retired peace officer who
1717 holds a certificate of proficiency under Section 1701.357,
1818 Occupations Code, the [The] law enforcement agency or other
1919 governmental entity that was the last entity to appoint or employ
2020 the [an] honorably retired peace officer as a peace officer shall
2121 [may] issue an identification card to the [its] honorably retired
2222 peace officer [officers].
2323 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2424 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2525 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2626 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2727 Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
