77 relating to the authority of certain hospital districts to contract
88 for the performance of administrative functions and services.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 281, Health and Safety
1111 Code, is amended by adding Section 281.0512 to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 281.0512. CONTRACT TO PROVIDE ADMINISTRATIVE
1313 FUNCTIONS AND SERVICES. (a) This section applies only to a
1414 federally qualified health center as defined by 42 U.S.C. Section
1515 1396d(l)(2)(B) or a federally qualified health center look-alike
1616 organized and operated under the authority of and in compliance
1717 with 42 U.S.C. Section 254b that is substantially devoted to
1818 providing services to socially and economically disadvantaged
1919 individuals in the geographical area of the district.
2020 (b) The board may contract with a federally qualified health
2121 center or a federally qualified health center look-alike to perform
2222 for the center administrative functions and services that the
2323 district and the center may perform independently.
2424 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2525 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2626 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2727 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2828 Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
