| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 36A, Chapter 307, Acts of the 61st | |
| 11 | 11 | Legislature, Regular Session, 1969, is amended to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 36A. Notwithstanding the district charter, other | |
| 13 | 13 | provisions of this Act, or other laws, the commissioners by | |
| 14 | 14 | majority vote shall set a tax rate for maintenance taxes levied and | |
| 15 | 15 | collected by the district not to exceed 20 [15] cents on each $100 | |
| 16 | 16 | of assessed valuation. | |
| 17 | 17 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
| 18 | 18 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
| 19 | 19 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
| 20 | 20 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
| 21 | 21 | Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
