The bill would amend the Transportation Code as it relates to speed limits on certain roadways. The bill would authorize the Texas Transportation Commission to establish prima facie speed limits up to 75 miles per hour on parts of the state highway system, eliminate the 65 mile per hour nighttime speed limit, and eliminate the current truck speed limit on Farm-to-Market roads. The bill would require the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to conceal or remove speed limit signs that do not comply with the provisions of the bill and erect appropriate signs as soon as practicable after the effective date of the bill.
