11 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

12 | 12 | | SECTION 1. Section 50.001, Parks and Wildlife Code, is |
---|
13 | 13 | | amended by adding Subsection (c-1) to read as follows: |
---|
14 | 14 | | (c-1) The commission shall waive the fee for a qualified |
---|
15 | 15 | | disabled veteran as defined by Section 42.012 or a resident who |
---|
16 | 16 | | holds a valid military identification card and is on active duty in |
---|
17 | 17 | | the United States military forces or is actively participating in |
---|
18 | 18 | | the Texas Army National Guard, the Texas Air National Guard, or the |
---|
19 | 19 | | Texas State Guard under the rules established by the adjutant |
---|
20 | 20 | | general of the state military forces. For the purposes of this |
---|
21 | 21 | | section, a valid military identification card issued by the Texas |
---|
22 | 22 | | Army National Guard, the Texas Air National Guard, or the Texas |
---|
23 | 23 | | State Guard is sufficient to establish residency in this state. |
---|
24 | 24 | | This subsection does not apply to a person who is retired from the |
---|
25 | 25 | | military or the dependent of military personnel unless the person |
---|
26 | 26 | | otherwise qualifies as provided by this subsection. |
---|
27 | 27 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
---|
28 | 28 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
---|
29 | 29 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
---|
30 | 30 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
---|
31 | 31 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
