11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Section 7.109(d), Education Code, is amended to | |
13 | 13 | read as follows: | |
14 | 14 | (d) The State Board for Career and Technology Education may | |
15 | 15 | allocate funds appropriated to the board by the legislature or | |
16 | 16 | federal funds received by the board under the Carl D. Perkins Career | |
17 | 17 | and Technical [Vocational] Education Act of 2006 (20 U.S.C. Section | |
18 | 18 | 2301 et seq.) or other federal law to an institution or program | |
19 | 19 | approved by the State Board of Education, the Texas Higher | |
20 | 20 | Education Coordinating Board, or another state agency specified by | |
21 | 21 | law. At least 40 percent of any federal funds allocated by the | |
22 | 22 | State Board for Career and Technology Education under this | |
23 | 23 | subsection must be allocated to support career and technical | |
24 | 24 | education at the postsecondary or adult level. | |
25 | 25 | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act to Section | |
26 | 26 | 7.109, Education Code, applies beginning with an allocation of | |
27 | 27 | federal funds made on or after the expiration of the Texas State | |
28 | 28 | Plan for Career and Technical Education, 2008-2013. | |
29 | 29 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
