A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to public school textbooks for career and technology
education.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 31.022, Education Code, is amended by
adding Subsection (d-1) to read as follows:
(d-1) Notwithstanding any other provision of this section,
the board shall issue a request for production of textbooks for
career and technology education not later than the date that would
permit new textbooks in that subject to be available in classrooms
beginning with the 2013-2014 school year. This subsection expires
September 1, 2013.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
