A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to providing Internet access in certain local public
libraries.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 441.127, Government Code, is amended by
adding Subsection (d) to read as follows:
(d) Accreditation standards adopted by the commission under
Subsection (a) shall provide that a public library with a service
area of over 50,000 residents that receives state or federal
funding to provide high-speed Internet access shall provide
computers with high-speed Internet access for public use.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
