 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to the appointment of bailiffs in certain Dallas County
 courts.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1.  Section 53.001, Government Code, is amended to
 read as follows:
 (k)  The judges of the 191st, 193rd, 254th, 255th, 256th,
 298th, 301st, 302nd, 304th, 330th, 14th, 44th, 68th, 95th, 101st,
 116th, 134th, 160th and 162nd District Courts and the county courts
 at law in Dallas County may each appoint one or more bailiffs that
 the judges believe are necessary for the efficient administration
 of the judge's court.
 SECTION 2.  To be eligible to be appointed bailiff for the
 191st, 193rd, 254th, 255th, 256th, 298th, 301st, 302nd, 304th,
 330th, 14th, 44th, 68th, 95th, 101st, 116th, 134th, 160th and 162nd
 District Courts and the county courts at law in Dallas County, or
 under Section 53.001, a person must be at least 21 years old and
 hold a peace officer license under Chapter 415 from the Commission
 on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education.
 SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect on September 1, 2011.
