A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to negotiations with the United Mexican States for
purchase or lease of the New Orleans Greys flag flown during the
Battle of the Alamo.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter F, Chapter 401, Government Code, is
amended by adding Section 401.105 to read as follows:
Sec. 401.105. NEGOTIATIONS. (a) The office of the governor
shall negotiate with the president and government of the United
Mexican States to purchase or lease from the United Mexican States
the New Orleans Greys flag flown during the Battle of the Alamo.
(b) This section expires September 1, 2013.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
