                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 1, 2011      TO: Honorable Sid Miller, Chair, House Committee on Homeland Security & Public Safety      FROM: John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB2937 by Lewis (Relating to access to the criminal history record information of certain individuals by public or private institutions of higher education and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.), As Introduced    No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would allow public or private institutions of higher education and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board access to criminal history record information of applicants for a security-sensitive position as defined in the bill. The bill would take effect immediately if it received enough votes, otherwise it would take effect September 1, 2011.  The Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board indicate that no fiscal impact is anticipated from the bill. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
