| 7 | 7 | | relating to the authority of the Travis County Healthcare District |

| 8 | 8 | | to make capital or financial contributions to charitable |

| 10 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 11 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Section 281.0565(d), Health and Safety Code, is |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | (d) A district created in a county with a population of more |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | than 800,000 that was not included in the boundaries of a hospital |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | district before September 1, 2003, may make a capital or other |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | financial contribution to: |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | (1) a charitable organization created by the district |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | to provide regional administration and delivery of health care |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | services to or for the district; or |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | (2) a charitable organization for the support of |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | medical, dental, or clinical education, training, or research |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | occurring within the district for the purpose of delivery of health |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | care services to or for the district. |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
