9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 53.002(a), Government Code, is amended | |
11 | 11 | to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | (a) The judges of the 34th, 86th, 130th, 142nd, 196th, | |
13 | 13 | 238th, 318th, 355th, and 385th district courts may each appoint a | |
14 | 14 | bailiff. | |
15 | 15 | SECTION 2. Section 53.009(b), Government Code, is amended | |
16 | 16 | to read as follows: | |
17 | 17 | (b) Each bailiff appointed by a judge of the 142nd, 196th, | |
18 | 18 | 238th, 318th, or 385th district court is entitled to receive from | |
19 | 19 | each county in which the court sits the amount of compensation set | |
20 | 20 | by the judge in an amount that does not exceed the salary of the | |
21 | 21 | chief deputy sheriff of the county. The judge shall give each | |
22 | 22 | commissioners court in the district written notification of the | |
23 | 23 | amount of compensation to be paid by the county. | |
24 | 24 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
