 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to voting after polls close.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1.  Section 41.032, Election Code, is amended by
 amending Subsection (b) and adding Subsection (d) to read as
 follows:
 (b)  If voters are waiting to enter the polling place at
 closing time, the presiding judge shall direct them to enter the
 polling place and shall close it to others. However, if that
 procedure is impracticable, at closing time the presiding judge
 shall compile a list of the names of each voter in line at the time
 of closing [distribute numbered identification cards to the waiting
 voters] and permit entry into the polling place for voting after
 closing time only by a voter whose name appears on the list [those
 possessing a card].
 (d)  The presiding judge shall make an announcement at 6:45
 p.m. to voters waiting to enter the polling place that the time for
 closing the polls is in 15 minutes.
 SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
