99 relating to certain grants awarded under the new technology
1010 research and development program.
1111 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. Section 387.005(a), Health and Safety Code, is
1313 amended to read as follows:
1414 (a) Grants awarded under this chapter shall be directed
1515 toward a balanced mix of:
1616 (1) retrofit and add-on technologies and other
1717 advanced technologies, including traffic-control signalization
1818 technologies and programs, that reduce emissions from the existing
1919 stock of engines and vehicles targeted by the Texas emissions
2020 reduction plan, provided that the technologies do not significantly
2121 reduce the fuel economy of those engines and vehicles;
2222 (2) advanced technologies for new engines and vehicles
2323 that produce very-low or zero emissions of oxides of nitrogen,
2424 including stationary and mobile fuel cells;
2525 (3) advanced technologies for reducing oxides of
2626 nitrogen and other emissions from stationary sources; and
2727 (4) field validation of innovative technologies that:
2828 (A) reduce emissions of oxides of nitrogen and
2929 other emissions; and
3030 (B) require demonstration of viability for full
3131 commercial acceptance.
3232 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
