99 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1010 AN ACT
1111 relating to the emergency medical services that give rise to an
1212 emergency medical services lien.
1313 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1414 SECTION 1. Section 55.002(c), Property Code, is amended to
1515 read as follows:
1616 (c) An emergency medical services provider has a lien on a
1717 cause of action or claim of an individual who receives emergency
1818 medical services in a county with a population of 800,000 [575,000]
1919 or less for injuries caused by an accident that is attributed to the
2020 negligence of another person. For the lien to attach, the
2121 individual must receive the emergency medical services not later
2222 than 72 hours after the accident.
2323 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
