11 | 11 | relating to the emergency medical services that give rise to an | |
12 | 12 | emergency medical services lien. | |
13 | 13 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
14 | 14 | SECTION 1. Section 55.002(c), Property Code, is amended to | |
15 | 15 | read as follows: | |
16 | 16 | (c) An emergency medical services provider has a lien on a | |
17 | 17 | cause of action or claim of an individual who receives emergency | |
18 | 18 | medical services in a county with a population of 800,000 [575,000] | |
19 | 19 | or less for injuries caused by an accident that is attributed to the | |
20 | 20 | negligence of another person. For the lien to attach, the | |
21 | 21 | individual must receive the emergency medical services not later | |
22 | 22 | than 72 hours after the accident. | |
23 | 23 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. | |
