99 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1010 AN ACT
1111 relating to the designation of the El Camino Real de los Tejas
1212 National Historic Trail as a historic highway.
1313 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1414 SECTION 1. Section 442.021, Government Code, is amended by
1515 adding Subsections (c), (d), (e), and (f) to read as follows:
1616 (c) The commission shall cooperate with the Texas
1717 Department of Transportation to designate, interpret, and market
1818 the El Camino Real de los Tejas National Historic Trail as a Texas
1919 historic highway.
2020 (d) To supplement revenue available for the purposes under
2121 Subsection (c), the commission and the Texas Department of
2222 Transportation may pursue federal funds dedicated to highway
2323 enhancement.
2424 (e) A designation of the El Camino Real de los Tejas
2525 National Historic Trail as a Texas historic highway may not be
2626 construed as a designation under the National Historic Preservation
2727 Act (16 U.S.C. Section 470 et seq.).
2828 (f) The Texas Department of Transportation is not required
2929 to design, construct, or erect a marker under this section unless a
3030 grant or donation of funds is made to the department to cover the
3131 cost of the design, construction, and erection of the marker. Money
3232 received to cover the cost of the marker shall be deposited to the
3333 credit of the state highway fund.
3434 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
