11 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

12 | 12 | | SECTION 1. Section 98.003, Health and Safety Code, as added |
---|
13 | 13 | | by Chapter 671 (H.B. 1373), Acts of the 80th Legislature, Regular |
---|
14 | 14 | | Session, 2007, is amended to read as follows: |
---|
15 | 15 | | Sec. 98.003. DUTIES. The task force shall: |
---|
16 | 16 | | (1) coordinate implementation of the state's [develop |
---|
17 | 17 | | a] cost-effective plan for prevention, early screening, diagnosis, |
---|
18 | 18 | | and management of chronic kidney disease for the state's population |
---|
19 | 19 | | through national, state, and local partners; and |
---|
20 | 20 | | (2) educate health care professionals on the use of |
---|
21 | 21 | | clinical practice guidelines for screening, detecting, diagnosing, |
---|
22 | 22 | | treating, and managing chronic kidney disease, its comorbidities, |
---|
23 | 23 | | and complications based on the Kidney Disease Outcomes Quality |
---|
24 | 24 | | Initiative Clinical Practice Guidelines for Chronic Kidney Disease |
---|
25 | 25 | | [develop a plan for surveillance and data analysis to assess the |
---|
26 | 26 | | impact of chronic kidney disease]. |

27 | 27 | | SECTION 2. Section 98.006, Health and Safety Code, as added |
---|
28 | 28 | | by Chapter 671 (H.B. 1373), Acts of the 80th Legislature, Regular |
---|
29 | 29 | | Session, 2007, is amended to read as follows: |

30 | 30 | | Sec. 98.006. REPORT. Not later than January 1, 2013 [2011], |
---|
31 | 31 | | the task force shall submit its findings and recommendations to: |
---|
32 | 32 | | (1) the governor, lieutenant governor, and speaker of |
---|
33 | 33 | | the house of representatives; and |
---|
34 | 34 | | (2) the presiding officers of the Senate Committee on |
---|
35 | 35 | | Health and Human Services and the Public Health Committee of the |
---|
36 | 36 | | house of representatives, or the appropriate committees of the 82nd |
---|
37 | 37 | | [81st] Legislature. |

38 | 38 | | SECTION 3. Section 98.009, Health and Safety Code, as added |

39 | 39 | | by Chapter 671 (H.B. 1373), Acts of the 80th Legislature, Regular |

41 | 41 | | Sec. 98.009. EXPIRATION. The task force is abolished and |

42 | 42 | | this chapter expires on August 31, 2013 [September 1, 2011]. |
