1010 relating to the Chronic Kidney Disease Task Force.
1111 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. Section 98.003, Health and Safety Code, as added
1313 by Chapter 671 (H.B. 1373), Acts of the 80th Legislature, Regular
1414 Session, 2007, is amended to read as follows:
1515 Sec. 98.003. DUTIES. The task force shall:
1616 (1) coordinate implementation of the state's [develop
1717 a] cost-effective plan for prevention, early screening, diagnosis,
1818 and management of chronic kidney disease for the state's population
1919 through national, state, and local partners; and
2020 (2) educate health care professionals on the use of
2121 clinical practice guidelines for screening, detecting, diagnosing,
2222 treating, and managing chronic kidney disease, its comorbidities,
2323 and complications based on the Kidney Disease Outcomes Quality
2424 Initiative Clinical Practice Guidelines for Chronic Kidney Disease
2525 [develop a plan for surveillance and data analysis to assess the
2626 impact of chronic kidney disease].
2727 SECTION 2. Section 98.006, Health and Safety Code, as added
2828 by Chapter 671 (H.B. 1373), Acts of the 80th Legislature, Regular
2929 Session, 2007, is amended to read as follows:
3030 Sec. 98.006. REPORT. Not later than January 1, 2013 [2011],
3131 the task force shall submit its findings and recommendations to:
3232 (1) the governor, lieutenant governor, and speaker of
3333 the house of representatives; and
3434 (2) the presiding officers of the Senate Committee on
3535 Health and Human Services and the Public Health Committee of the
3636 house of representatives, or the appropriate committees of the 82nd
3737 [81st] Legislature.
3838 SECTION 3. Section 98.009, Health and Safety Code, as added
3939 by Chapter 671 (H.B. 1373), Acts of the 80th Legislature, Regular
4040 Session, 2007, is amended to read as follows:
4141 Sec. 98.009. EXPIRATION. The task force is abolished and
4242 this chapter expires on August 31, 2013 [September 1, 2011].
4343 SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
