77 relating to the jurisdiction of a county criminal court at law in
88 Harris County.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 25.1033(a), Government Code, is amended
1111 to read as follows:
1212 (a) A county criminal court at law in Harris County has the:
1313 (1) criminal jurisdiction provided by law for county
1414 courts;
1515 (2) concurrent jurisdiction with county civil courts
1616 at law for Harris County to hear appeals of the suspension of
1717 driver's licenses and original proceedings regarding occupational
1818 driver's licenses; and
1919 (3) appellate jurisdiction in appeals of criminal
2020 cases from justice courts and municipal courts in the county.
2121 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only
2222 to an action filed in a county criminal court at law in Harris
2323 County on or after the effective date of this Act. An action filed
2424 in a county criminal court at law in Harris County before the
2525 effective date of this Act is governed by the law in effect on the
2626 date the action was filed, and the former law is continued in effect
2727 for that purpose.
2828 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
