The bill would amend the Parks and Wildlife Code to mandate that operators of a vessel involved in a collision resulting in death, injury, or property damage notify the Parks and Wildlife Department rather than file a report. The bill would increase the dollar threshold for property damage from $500 to $2,000. The bill would require a marine safety enforcement officer to file a report to the department any incident the officer investigates that involves a collision resulting in death, injury, or property damage ($2,000 and over) no later than the 15th day after the officer initially becomes aware of the incident. The bill would take effect September 1, 2011. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
