 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to the status of certain training programs for peace
 officers, reserve law enforcement officers, county jailers, and
 recruits.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1.  Section 1701.254, Occupations Code, is amended
 by adding Subsection (e) to read as follows:
 (e)  The commission may not adopt rules under Subsection (d)
 that place a training provider on at-risk probationary status based
 solely on the scores of the provider's students on licensing
 examinations if at least 80 percent of the provider's students
 pass, by the student's third attempt, the examination required for
 the type of license sought.
 SECTION 2.  Not later than January 1, 2012, the Commission on
 Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education shall adopt rules
 necessary to implement the change in law made by this Act.
 SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
