10 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

11 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Subdivisions (4) and (5), Subsection (a), |
---|
12 | 12 | | Section 5A, Chapter 1507 (S.B. 456), Acts of the 76th Legislature, |
---|
13 | 13 | | Regular Session, 1999 (Article 5190.14, Vernon's Texas Civil |
---|
14 | 14 | | Statutes), are amended to read as follows: |
---|
15 | 15 | | (4) "Event" means a Super Bowl, a National Collegiate |
---|
16 | 16 | | Athletic Association Final Four tournament game, the National |
---|
17 | 17 | | Basketball Association All-Star Game, the National Hockey League |
---|
18 | 18 | | All-Star Game, the Major League Baseball All-Star Game, a National |
---|
19 | 19 | | Collegiate Athletic Association Bowl Championship Series game, a |
---|
20 | 20 | | World Cup Soccer game, the World Games, a national collegiate |
---|
21 | 21 | | championship of an amateur sport sanctioned by the national |
---|
22 | 22 | | governing body of the sport that is recognized by the United States |
---|
23 | 23 | | Olympic Committee, an Olympic activity, including a Junior or |
---|
24 | 24 | | Senior activity, training program, or feeder program sanctioned by |
---|
25 | 25 | | the United States Olympic Committee's Community Olympic |
---|
26 | 26 | | Development Program, the Breeders' Cup World Championships, [or] a |
---|
27 | 27 | | Formula One automobile race, the Academy of Country Music Awards, |
---|
28 | 28 | | the National Cutting Horse Association Triple Crown, or a national |
---|
29 | 29 | | political convention of the Republican National Committee or the |
---|
30 | 30 | | Democratic National Committee. The term includes any activities |
---|
31 | 31 | | related to or associated with an event. |
---|
32 | 32 | | (5) "Site selection organization" means: |
---|
33 | 33 | | (A) the National Football League, the National |
---|
34 | 34 | | Collegiate Athletic Association, the National Basketball |
---|
35 | 35 | | Association, the National Hockey League, Major League Baseball, the |
---|
36 | 36 | | Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the |
---|
37 | 37 | | International World Games Association, or the United States Olympic |
---|
38 | 38 | | Committee; |
---|
39 | 39 | | (B) [or] the national governing body of a sport |
---|
40 | 40 | | that is recognized by the United States Olympic Committee, the |
---|
41 | 41 | | National Thoroughbred Racing Association, Formula One Management |
---|
42 | 42 | | Limited, or the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile; |
---|
43 | 43 | | (C) the Academy of Country Music; |
---|
44 | 44 | | (D) the National Cutting Horse Association; or |
---|
45 | 45 | | (E) the Republican National Committee or the |
---|
46 | 46 | | Democratic National Committee. |

47 | 47 | | SECTION 2. Section 5A, Chapter 1507 (S.B. 456), Acts of the |
---|
48 | 48 | | 76th Legislature, Regular Session, 1999 (Article 5190.14, Vernon's |
---|
49 | 49 | | Texas Civil Statutes), is amended by adding Subsection (w) to read |
---|
50 | 50 | | as follows: |
---|
51 | 51 | | (w) Not later than 18 months after the last day of an event |
---|
52 | 52 | | eligible for disbursements from the Major Events trust fund for |
---|
53 | 53 | | costs associated with the event, the comptroller using existing |
---|
54 | 54 | | resources shall: |
---|
55 | 55 | | (1) complete a study in the market area of the event on |
---|
56 | 56 | | the measurable economic impact directly attributable to the |
---|
57 | 57 | | preparation for and presentation of the event and related |
---|
58 | 58 | | activities; and |
---|
59 | 59 | | (2) post on the comptroller's Internet website the |
---|
60 | 60 | | results of the study conducted under Subdivision (1) of this |
---|
61 | 61 | | subsection. |
---|
62 | 62 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
---|
63 | 63 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
---|
64 | 64 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
---|
65 | 65 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
---|
66 | 66 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
