A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the state's or a state governmental entity's provision
of support for the performance of an abortion or abortion-related
services.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 171, Health and Safety
Code, is amended by adding Section 171.006 to read as follows:
Sec. 171.006. PROHIBITED USE OF STATE OR GOVERNMENTAL
ENTITY RESOURCES. This state or a governmental entity in this state
may not provide support to a person or facility that performs
abortions or provides abortion-related services. Support
includes:
(1) directly or indirectly using state or local tax
revenue to finance the performance of an abortion or a service
related to an abortion; and
(2) providing preferential access to assets that are
owned or controlled by this state or a governmental entity in this
state through a lease, contract, or other agreement.
SECTIONਂ. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
