                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 21, 2011      TO: Honorable Larry Taylor, Chair, House Committee on Elections      FROM: John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB926 by Harper-Brown (relating to the use of information from the internal verification system of the Department of Public Safety for voter registration purposes.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Transportation Code to permit the Department of Public Safety to disclose certain address-related information to the Secretary of State (SOS) for voter registration purposes. The bill would also require voter registrars to conduct certain investigations. The bill would take effect immediately upon a two-thirds vote of all the members of each house. Otherwise the bill would take effect September 1, 2011.  Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
