A JOINT RESOLUTION
proposing a constitutional amendment relating to county authority
to provide for the support of indigent inhabitants.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 14, Article IX, Texas Constitution, is
amended to read as follows:
Sec. 14. Each county in the State may provide, in such
manner as may be prescribed by law, [a Manual Labor Poor House and
Farm,] for taking care of, managing, employing and supplying the
wants of its indigent and poor inhabitants.
SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 8, 2011.
The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the
proposition: "The constitutional amendment relating to county
authority to provide for the support of indigent inhabitants."
