88 proposing a constitutional amendment prohibiting the use of state
99 funds to pay for the obligations of a local public retirement
1010 system.
1111 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. Section 67, Article XVI, Texas Constitution, is
1313 amended by adding Subsection (f-1) to read as follows:
1414 (f-1) This state is not liable for any debts or other
1515 obligations of a retirement system described by Subsection (f), and
1616 the legislature may not appropriate money to a retirement system
1717 described by Subsection (f) to pay any debts or other obligations of
1818 the retirement system.
1919 SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
2020 submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 8, 2011.
2121 The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the
2222 proposition: "The constitutional amendment prohibiting the
2323 legislature from appropriating state money to a local public
2424 retirement system to pay any debts or other obligations of the
2525 retirement system."
