A JOINT RESOLUTION
proposing a constitutional amendment to prohibit a hospital
district from using tax revenue to finance the performance of an
abortion.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 9A, Article IX, Texas Constitution, is
amended to read as follows:
Sec. 9A. (a) The legislature by law may determine the
health care services a hospital district is required to provide,
the requirements a resident must meet to qualify for services, and
any other relevant provisions necessary to regulate the provision
of health care to residents.
(b) A hospital district may not use tax revenue of the
district to finance the performance of an abortion.
SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 8, 2011.
The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the
proposition: "The constitutional amendment to prohibit a hospital
district from using tax revenue to finance the performance of an
abortion."
