A JOINT RESOLUTION
proposing a constitutional amendment relating to elections for
directors in certain groundwater conservation districts.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 59, Article XVI, Texas Constitution, is
amended by adding Subsection (g) to read as follows:
(g) A conservation district created by the Legislature
under this section as a groundwater conservation district shall be
governed by a board of directors elected by the voters of the
district. Temporary directors responsible for ordering the first
election of district directors may be appointed as provided by law.
SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 8, 2011.
The ballot shall be printed to provide for voting for or against the
proposition: "The constitutional amendment relating to elections
for directors in certain groundwater conservation districts."
