H.R. No. 1024 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The dedication of Hoise Bell Chapel in Forest Hill provides a fitting occasion on which to pay tribute to this esteemed clergyman; and WHEREAS, A native of Caldwell, Reverend Bell was born in 1930 and graduated from Stafford High School in Italy, Texas; he joined the U.S. Army and served his country in the Vietnam and Korean Wars, earning the Silver Star and Purple Heart for his valiant actions; and WHEREAS, During a distinguished 26-year tenure in the military, Reverend Bell served as a teacher at the Officer Candidate School in Fort Benning, Georgia, and as an instructor of military science at The University of Texas at Arlington; he pursued his own higher education in California at the University of Menlo Park, and in the Lone Star State at Central Texas College and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary; for many years, he taught military science in the Junior ROTC Program at MacArthur High School in Irving; and WHEREAS, Reverend Bell began his pastoral work at New Hope Baptist Church in Seaside, California; he went on to lead St. John Baptist Church in Smith, Alabama, and New Hope Baptist Church in Irving before joining Berea Baptist Church in Forest Hill; for 26 years, he committed himself to serving the latter congregation, and during that time he established five ministries in an effort to inspire spiritual growth; and WHEREAS, Hoise Bell has long been a blessing in the lives of others, and the chapel named for him will serve as an inspiring reminder of the many good works and deeds that one person can accomplish; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby honor Pastor Emeritus Hoise Bell of Berea Baptist Church on the dedication of the Hoise Bell Chapel and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Pastor Bell as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
