 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The Woodlands High School won the University
 Interscholastic League 5A Lone Star Cup for the 2009-2010 academic
 year, earning the school three consecutive victories in its
 classification; and
 WHEREAS, Contenders for the Lone Star Cup compete in a
 variety of arenas, including athletics, academics, marching band,
 and drama, and winning schools receive a trophy and a $1,000
 scholarship presented by the UIL; and
 WHEREAS, Beating out their nearest rival, Austin Westlake, by
 six points, the Highlanders captured the cup with a total score of
 100 for the year; the school's dominance was fueled by the strength
 of its athletic programs, in particular its boys' cross country and
 swimming and diving and girls' soccer teams, which all won state
 championships; in addition, The Woodlands also boasted
 high-performing boys' basketball, football, and soccer teams and
 impressive achievements in girls' golf and softball; rounding out
 these sports triumphs, the school's academic team prevailed at the
 district championships; and
 WHEREAS, By claiming its fourth Lone Star Cup in five years,
 The Woodlands High School has further added to its enviable record
 of excellence, and all those associated with the school can take
 justifiable pride in their outstanding accomplishment; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate The Woodlands High School on
 winning the 2009-2010 UIL 5A Lone Star Cup and extend to the
 school's students, educators, and staff best wishes for continued
 success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
