H.R. No. 121 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The Honorable Don Marshall Chrestman of Weatherford retired as judge of the 43rd District Court on December 31, 2010, and the conclusion of his noteworthy tenure provides a fitting opportunity to recognize him for his myriad achievements; and WHEREAS, In his role with the state district court, Judge Chrestman demonstrated the wisdom and fairness that are the hallmarks of an outstanding jurist, and through his able leadership, he made a lasting impact on the well-being of the citizens of Parker County; and WHEREAS, First elected to the bench in 2000, Judge Chrestman brought a long record of public and community service to his new post; from 1981 to 1987, he served three terms on the Weatherford City Council, which chose him as mayor pro tem; over the years, he also served as chair of the Parker County Purchasing Board, as a member of the Parker County Juvenile Board, and as a member of the boards of the Weatherford Municipal Utility System, Weatherford Chamber of Commerce, Weatherford Industrial Development Foundation, and Weatherford College Development Foundation; and WHEREAS, Don Chrestman earned his bachelor's degree from Baylor University in 1965 and his law degree, also from Baylor, in 1970; he began his career in private practice in South Texas, and he worked as counsel to a number of corporations before becoming a partner in the firm of Vick, Chrestman & Carney; he is a former member of the board of directors of the Baylor Bear Foundation and a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation; and WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Don Chrestman enjoys the love and support of his wife, Melinda; valued congregants of Lakeshore Drive Baptist Church, they are the proud parents of Dean Chrestman and his wife, Sarah, Shelley Bracken and her husband, Doug, and Laura Chrestman, and the devoted grandparents of Claire and Andrew Chrestman and Margaret and Matthew Bracken; and WHEREAS, Judge Chrestman's professionalism and commitment to excellence have greatly benefited his fellow Texans, and it is appropriate to take this opportunity to honor him and wish him well as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the Honorable Don Marshall Chrestman on his retirement as judge of the 43rd District Court and extend to him deep appreciation for his exemplary public service; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Judge Chrestman as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
