 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The Heritage Senior Center Permanent Art Collection
 in Irving provides a unique opportunity to view the works of local
 artists in their golden years; and
 WHEREAS, Established on January 20, 2011, the art collection
 is believed to be the only such permanent collection in the state;
 it features more than 20 original works donated by area senior
 citizens, including Ruth Baker Currid, Nila Liwanag Santos, John W.
 Blount, Mikki Gabriel, Darlene B. Svehlak, Joy Shaw, Wes Wilson,
 Louis Lopez, Ron Stephens, H. D. Joe Stratton, Arnold Vail, Marilyn
 J. Chandler, John Stevens, Donald C. Leamon, Thomas Wellman, Edwin
 Parma, Sue Banfield, Mary Hoffman, John Kendro, David M. Tate, DDS,
 Carol Hearne, and Bertha Bray; and
 WHEREAS, Curated by recreation specialist Lisa McNamara, the
 collection encompasses a wide range of genres and media, among them
 watercolor, oil, acrylic, pastels, and photography; the public may
 view the artworks during the center's business hours; and
 WHEREAS, The Heritage Senior Center Permanent Art Collection
 showcases works by older men and women who have found a meaningful
 and enjoyable form of self-expression in visual art and whose
 talent is indeed deserving of display; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby honor the Heritage Senior Center Permanent Art
 Collection and commend all those associated with this worthy
 initiative; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the collection as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
