 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Members of Harper's Chapel Baptist Church in San
 Antonio are celebrating the 69th anniversary of their church's
 founding in 2011; and
 WHEREAS, Harper's Chapel Baptist Church was built by its
 first pastor, the Reverend I. H. Harper, who worked with his sons
 throughout 1941 to establish the church; he began conducting
 services there in March 1942 and went on to serve as the
 congregation's spiritual leader for a remarkable tenure that
 spanned nearly 42 years; and
 WHEREAS, Reverend Harper was succeeded by the Reverend Tommy
 S. Robinson, Sr., in 1983, who oversaw the church with dedication
 and vision for 21 years before his passing in 2004; and
 WHEREAS, Under the direction of the Reverend Charles N.
 Wingfield since that time, Harper's Chapel has undergone a number
 of renovations to help it keep pace with the needs of its growing
 congregation; in addition, the church became part of the Westside
 Ministerial Alliance and the Community of Churches for Social
 Action in 2005, and it has been affiliated with the Guadalupe
 District Missionary Baptist Association and College since 2008; and
 WHEREAS, Harper's Chapel Baptist Church has long served as a
 source of spiritual enrichment to those who worship there, and its
 continued existence is a tribute to the unwavering commitment of
 its members, both past and present; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby commemorate the 69th anniversary of Harper's
 Chapel Baptist Church in San Antonio and extend to the congregation
 sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the church as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
