 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The passing of Betty Marie Norsworthy of Waco on
 March 2, 2011, at the age of 86, has deeply saddened the many people
 whose lives she touched; and
 WHEREAS, Mrs. Norsworthy was born on September 9, 1924, in
 Detroit, Michigan; a good student, she graduated from high school
 at the age of 16, earning the equivalent of a business school
 degree; and
 WHEREAS, Active in her church, she was often chosen to
 showcase her lovely voice as a soloist in the choir; a fellow
 congregant, Charles Norsworthy, admired her talent, and on April
 13, 1946, they were married; the couple shared nearly four decades
 together before Mr. Norsworthy's passing, and they lovingly raised
 four children, Ross, Nancy, Donald, and Steven; and
 WHEREAS, Mrs. Norsworthy stayed home with the kids when they
 were young, working as a seamstress to supplement the family's
 income; later, she was employed as a bookkeeper and as an insurance
 underwriter before her retirement; and
 WHEREAS, In 1995, Mrs. Norsworthy moved to Waco, where she
 joined Highland Baptist Church; she benefited the congregation as a
 member of the choir and as president of the Naomis; in addition, she
 served as president of the Baylor Senior Adult Choir and enjoyed
 volunteering as a mentor at Dean Highland Elementary School; and
 WHEREAS, Sustained by her strong faith, Betty Norsworthy
 approached life with great joy and enthusiasm, and she will always
 be remembered with tenderness and affection by those who were
 privileged to know her; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Betty Marie
 Norsworthy and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her
 family: to her children, Ross Norsworthy and his wife, June, Nancy
 Nye and her husband, Lanny, Donald Norsworthy and his wife, Bonny,
 and Steven Norsworthy; to her 11 grandchildren; to her 8
 great-grandchildren; and to her other relatives and many friends;
 and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Betty Marie
 Norsworthy.
