 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Robinson High School student Kendall Newman
 performed with the All-State Concert Band in San Antonio on
 February 12, 2011; and
 WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Association of Texas Small School
 Bands, the All-State Band program brings together talented young
 musicians from across Texas who have successfully competed at a
 series of district, regional, and area auditions; only 260 students
 from classes 1-A through 3-A are selected from among thousands of
 applicants; and
 WHEREAS, Ms. Newman plays French horn with the Robinson High
 School Band, and she earned the position of fifth chair in the
 All-State Concert Band; after rehearsing for three days, the group
 performed the world premiere of "Kitty Hawk, 1903," a tribute to the
 Wright Brothers composed by William Owens, at a concert in the Lila
 Cockrell Theatre in San Antonio; and
 WHEREAS, The privilege of performing with this outstanding
 ensemble is granted to only a select number of young Texans every
 year, and Ms. Newman may indeed take great pride in her achievement;
 now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Kendall Newman for performing with
 the 2011 All-State Concert Band and extend to her sincere best
 wishes for continued success and a bright future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Ms. Newman as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
