H.R. No. 1308
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The West High School Trojan Band won its third
consecutive Sweepstakes Award in spring 2011; and
WHEREAS, Led by director Steve Hart, the 80-member group
claimed this prestigious distinction after earning first division
ratings in the concert and sight-reading competitions; and
WHEREAS, These outstanding young musicians exhibited poise
and talent as well as the confidence they have garnered from prior
achievements, including a Division I rating in University
Interscholastic League Region 8 Marching in fall 2010; and
WHEREAS, Through long hours of practice and inspired
performances, the Trojan Band has developed into an accomplished
ensemble that is a source of great pride to its school and to its
many supporters in West; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate the West High School Trojan Band on
winning its third consecutive Sweepstakes Award and extend to its
members sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
